Nasceu em Lisboa, em 1949, onde tirou o curso de escultura na Escola Superior de Belas Artes de Lisboa. Em 1971 foi estudar para Londres, com o intuito de fazer uma pós-graduação na Saint Martin’s School of Art, e onde se fixou. Em 1974, recebeu uma bolsa de ILEA, Londres, e, entre 1975 e 1977, foi bolseira da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian.

Das numerosas instituições onde realizou exposições destacam-se a Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (Lisboa), Fundação de Serralves (Porto), Caixa Geral de Depósitos (Lisboa), Museu de Arte Contemporânea Osaka (Japão), MAC (Badajoz), Museu Histórico Nacional (Rio de Janeiro), Centro Britânico (São Paulo), Centro Cultural Ecco (Brasília). Expõe com frequência em Portugal e no estrangeiro: Todd Gallery, Londres; Galeria Graça Fonseca, Lisboa; Galeria Cristina Guerra, Lisboa; Galeria Porta 33, Funchal; Galeria João Esteves de Oliveira, Lisboa, entre outras. Em 1991, foi artista premiada na Trienal de Osaka, Japão.

O seu trabalho encontra-se em diversas coleções particulares e nas coleções da Caixa Geral de Depósitos, Fundação António Prates, Fundação PLMJ, Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Belém (Brasil), Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Osaka (Japão), Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Centro Cultural de Belém, Lisboa, entre outras.

She was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1949, where she took a Sculpture course at the Lisbon School of Fine Arts. In 1971, she went to study in London, with the intention of doing a postgraduate degree at Saint Martin’s School of Art, where she settled. In 1974, she received a scholarship from ILEA, London, and, between 1975 and 1977, she received a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

Of the numerous institutions where she has held exhibitions, some of them stand out: Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon), Serralves Foundation (Porto), Caixa Geral de Depósitos (Lisbon), Osaka Museum of Contemporary Art (Japan), MAC (Badajoz), National Historical Museum (Rio de Janeiro), British Centre (São Paulo), Ecco Cultural Centre (Brasília). She exhibits frequently in Portugal and abroad: Todd Gallery, London; Graça Fonseca Gallery, Lisbon; Cristina Guerra Gallery, Lisbon; Porta 33 Gallery, Funchal; João Esteves de Oliveira Gallery, Lisbon, among others. In 1991, she was an award-winning artist at the Osaka Triennale, Japan.

Her work can be found in several private collections and in the collections of Caixa Geral de Depósitos, the António Prates Foundation, the PLMJ Foundation, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belém (Brazil), the Museum of Contemporary Art in Osaka (Japan), the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the Centro Cultural de Belém, both in Lisbon, among others.
