Nascido em Peniche em 1944, Jaime Azinheira formou-se em Escultura na Escola Superior de Belas Artes do Porto em 1980.

No seu percurso artístico destacam-se os trabalhos de escultura, à base de gessos de grandes dimensões e de peças em papel e polivinilo, que representam figuras pitorescas e caricatas em situações quotidianas, tão poéticas quanto trágicas.

Obteve também uma menção honrosa na III Bienal Internacional de Arte de Vila Nova de Cerveira com a escultura “A Sueca” (1982), obra que integra a coleção da Fundação Bienal de Arte de Cerveira, e o Prémio Garrett de Teatro, da Secretaria de Estado da Cultura (1988), pela cenografia da peça “Pássaro Verde”, representada pelos Comediantes do Porto.

Faleceu no Porto, onde residia, com 71 anos.

Born in Peniche, Portugal, in 1944, Jaime Azinheira graduated in Sculpture at the School of Fine Arts of Porto in 1980.

In his artistic career, sculpture works stand out, based on large plasters and pieces on paper and polyvinyl, representing picturesque and caricatured figures in everyday situations, as poetic as they are tragic.

He was awarded with an honorable mention at the III International Art Biennial of Vila Nova de Cerveira, Portugal, with the sculpture “A Sueca” (1982), a work that is part of the collection of the Cerveira Art Biennial Foundation, and the Garrett Theater Prize, from the Portuguese Secretary of State for Culture (1988), for the scenography of the play “Pássaro Verde”, performed by the Comediantes do Porto.

He died in Porto, where he lived, at the age of 71.
